VMware N2 Support Specialist (P598)

Technical Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience in VMware administration at the N2 level.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining VMware environments, with a focus on hypervisor installation and configuration.
  • Familiarity with hardware configurations, including BIOS updates, server drivers, and iDRAC settings.
  • Strong understanding of high availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), distributed switches, and vMotion.
  • Experience with SAN storage configuration, including mounting, unmounting, and extending storage capacity.
  • Ability to perform standard virtual machine (VM) management tasks, such as powering on/off, creating, cloning, and deleting VMs.
  • Skilled in handling VM migrations, both vMotion and storage vMotion.
  • Expertise in allocating resources to VMs, including vCPU, RAM, and disk space adjustments.
  • Knowledge of configuring USB devices, mounting ISO files, and adding network devices to virtual machines.
  • Competence in setting up independent disks, shared disks for database/app clusters, and RDM (Raw Device Mapping) disk configurations when applicable.
  • Conduct virtual hardware upgrades within VMware environments.
  • Monitor VM performance and availability through native hypervisor tools.
  • Generate reports on resource utilization, including CPU, RAM, disk, and network usage, as required by service agreements.
  • Set up alerts and thresholds for operational metrics through the VMware console.
  • Collaborate with vendors and provide necessary support for hardware and software issues.
